His well-known Intercity series consists of modern, quasi-abstract cityscapes in which urban energy is central. Buildings, streets and skylines are not depicted literally, but form a free interpretation of the city and its dynamics. His paintings often contain hidden details and visual riddles that slowly reveal themselves to the viewer. Van der Linden mainly works with oil and acrylic paint on large canvases.
